I'm uncomfortable with a lot of white lefty Canadian accounts today chipping about the inauguration.
Maybe because my family to the south is primarily Black and Indigenous and all taking a day off to celebrate a little. They have been fighting this fight forever.

It's okay to feel a bit of relief on this day. No one needs you to remind them white supremacy hasn't died, America is no less racist, we know. The last four years were especially chaotic and for racialized people, it's okay to find a little joy today.
Black people in the US don't need white leftists chipping about the work not being done, they know better way more than you ever could. Joy is in short supply so, those who simply survived, those who lost people, those who fought to overcome Trump, can fucking smile for 2 minutes
The work continues tomorrow and the next day and the day after that. Your job will be take direction from Black and Indigenous people and if you're not actively doing that as much as you are chipping today, I'll be happy to remind you.
And needless to say if you are Black and/Indigenous, chip the fuck away! God knows we've equally earned every right to shit on this.
