How to overcome a habitual mindset on procrastination 💼

////THREAD////
When focusing you are at the point in the exercise where the muscle begins to burn and you feel pain.

You only truly start working the muscle when you begin to hurt

Procrastination is when the fight or flight kicks in to tell you to fight the discomfort and delay the pain.
Why do we procrastinate?

The most common reason for procrastination is due to a lack of direction and therefore a lack of focus.

Without this you do not have the drive or reason to focus on achieving your goals.

There is an easy fix to this... read on.
1️⃣ Step 1: Notice when you are procrastinating.

Practice self-awareness within yourself by acknowledging your reasons for procrastinating.

Most feel fear of tackling the task in hand or simply lack motivation due to no deadlines or sense of accomplishment from the task.
2️⃣ Step 2: Identify a clear destination.

By knowing exactly where you are going with any tasks you strive to complete you will know know exactly what pace you need to move at, what priority the task takes and how you can achieve success.

It is important to be specific.
3️⃣ Step 3: Remove any obstacles.

One key to success is to remove anything that may prevent you from completing the task.

An example of this is to check your notifications, reply to any messages and then put your phone away until you have completed the task.
4️⃣ Step 4: Celebrate the task completion

Many people do not see completion of a task as something that will serve them or provide them with the gratification they deserve.

To bypass this will be to reward yourself once the task is complete
5️⃣ Step 5: Organise yourself

Organising yourself, your day and your environment provides you with the right mental headspace to resist any distractions and cause no further delays.

This will provide clarity of mind, increasing the time you have to focus on your tasks.
6️⃣ Step 6: To Do Lists.

A common recommendation is to create a To Do List.

I use @todoist every evening to create tasks that I need to do which align with my monthly and weekly objectives.

I then schedule each task for each day.
Then every morning I open my planner and create a schedule for each task on my list.

7️⃣ Step 7: Start by completing the hardest tasks.

Once you have completed the most difficult ones of the day it will give you the confidence boost to attack all other tasks on your list.
