I think the issue with our lack of structure or identity is this tendency to keep "reverting to type" when things get difficult. SO we get caught between committing to a new ethos/style of play, and falling back into the safety net #CFC
When things get tough, bring back the conservative midfield players, stick Giroud up front and get a couple of wins then take it from there #CFC
But what we really need to do is tough it out. Liverpool and City, when Klopp & Pep came in, didn't have the players to play their styles, but they still implemented them to get it ingrained into the club, and over time some players adapted, others were replaced by the right ones
We wanted a style, we invested on 3 attacking players and a left back all with that style in mind, and developed 3 or 4 young players also with that in mind. We stopped playing pedestrian players like Jorginho, Azpilicueta, Alonso, Giroud, we got rid of Pedro and Willian #CFC
So we have to keep with it like others did, allow the new players to settle into it and the youngsters to grow into it, and resist the temptation to revert to type every time we need to eek out a couple of results #cfc
Because while those few points might be desired in the short-term, the harm is greater in the medium to long-term if we make knee-jerk impact changes #cfc
I think Lampard knows this, probably Cech too. But the issue is, it appears that ROman and his merry men don't get this, so the manager becomes the subject of unbelievable pressure to deliver points as soon as a good run comes to an end. And then outcomes the safety net #cfc
