Debunking the myth Mctominay isn’t good enough to play for Manchester United

Since Mctominay broke into the first team in he has adapted his game significantly . At first Ole played him in a defensive midfield role which isn’t his actual position so people gave him a lot of unfair criticism when he was only 22/23 and still learning

Mctominay’s preferred role is a box to box but people seem to think that he doesn’t make forward passes which is false as if you compare him to Pogba (only because he’s regarded as a world class midfielder) he’s completed more key passes and less backward passes in less minutes

Ole likes to play him against high pressing teams like City, Liverpool, Leeds because he manipulates space and gets past the press with ease , also another example of Mctominay making forward passes and starting attacks

Mctominay is also strong defensively working very well with Fred as they both compliment each other nicely . Mctominay defensively is on par/better than Henderson who is regarded as one of the better midfielders in the league

This performance by Mctominay always gets looked over , 22 years old and he was the best player on the pitch by miles against a strong Barcelona side

Mctominay also possesses amazing leadership qualities , after Pogba apologised for his missed chance he was said to be one of the only people that went to console him , as well Captaining the side for the first time this season against Watford where he scored the winning goal

He even broke records this season becoming the first player in premier league history to score a brace inside the first 3 minutes of a match which came against Leeds

I’m not saying in future Mctominay should be a starter every game , but he gets a lot of undeserved disrespect from our fans when he puts in good performances almost every game and has been one of our best players this season , he’s more than capable of playing at this level
