First for everything (THREAD)
First time I ever DJd at a "venue" was in PB (San Diego),
I opened in the front room of pretty much a dive bar.
Played 10-11pm.
Played absolute bangers for an hour while people are waiting in line to come in and ordering first drink.

Completely empty dance floor other than a few of my savage friends who had pregamed enough to stand out and support me.
I remember everyone who came to that first "show." If you want to call it that.
The last 15 minutes of my set the GM of the club was there watched it all.

Said he respected that I went for the vibe I wanted to bring even though it was wayyyy to high energy for that early in the night.
The flyer from that first show with my logo on it allowed me to get a ton of shows when I went back to the east coast for my senior yr of college.

The first time I performed in London, I flew in the night before my show. Went out with the promoter the night before for a "pint" turned into 5 pints or so. Didn't sleep at all the night before, jet lagged.
Day of the show get to the venue early and..

Showed the employees of the club some of the music I planned to play, they basically told me not to play that and it wouldn't work for this crowd.
I panicked are started downloading random uk pop house remixes just in case and loaded them into my usb.

Went to the soundcheck and the CDJs (dj gear) was a model I had never used before.
I ended up at that point saying if I go down, I'm going down playing my stuff.
Played the music I planned on playing. The night couldn't have gone better, 1,000+ people on a Monday night.

The first time you do something new, the natural tendency is to fear the worst outcome.
Never has my worst fear actually come to life.
You might make a fool of yourself or you might exceed expectations.
Reality is it probably won't matter 6 months or a year from now.
