4.3 years ago, I felt like the United States bitch slapped me straight across the face. Over the last 4 years, I've felt subjected to repeated existential abuse, a fresh set of wounds just as I was getting over the last ones. 1/
I started posting on Twitter as a way to express my rage and fear. As a steward of my Firm and as an "influencer," I felt buttoned up elsewhere. At home, with a man who repeatedly told me "what harm can 4 years do?" I felt misunderstood (at best), and betrayed (more often). 2/
It was on Twitter that I discovered I wasn't the only one who crawled into the bathtub and wept on Nov 9 2016, I wasn't the only one who saw the threat to our democracy, I wasn't the only one who was learning--day by day--how many who shared our borders won't share our values. 3/

To all the judges who pressed their shoulders into the bulwark of our Republic, who leaned in to reinforce the mettle of our Constitution, thank you. I have never been more proud to be a member of the bar in my life. 5/
To all the lawyers who advocated on behalf of free elections, and in so doing, upheld the very framework of our democracy, thank you. I have been humbled by the union of your skill and activism. 6/
To all the journalists who chose to report with justice, who relentlessly checked those in power, who deployed every weapon at their disposal to supply us not only with facts, but with hope, thank you. 7/
To all of you, who've shared this journey with me, whether for 4 yrs or 4 mos, thank you for your rage, fear, your honesty. Thank you for inspiring me to recommit to the ideals I had when I was a little girl learning English, when I studied Con Law, when I cast my first vote. 8/
Just 2 more hours, all, and we finally get to unsaddle ourselves from one of the most heinous mistakes in our history and begin the hard work of learning from it. I can't wait to start that chapter with you all!!
