It's easy to think 'we made it' today. And some of us did.

But many did not. 400,000+ Americans did not make it out of this Presidency unscathed. The people who got sick or died or permanently separated from family members while in our concentration camps did not.

The people who were executed by racist police officers or wrongfully detained/imprisoned by racist police departments or policies did not. The people who still could not afford their healthcare and either went bankrupt or died did not.

The people working three jobs to make ends meet and still not having enough did not. The animals and ecosystems affected by the EPA rollbacks and the border wall did not. The people of Yemen (who we just labeled as terrorists) did not.

The people who had their lives permanently altered by our racist travel ban did not. The people who have had their economic future permanently altered by our mismanaged pandemic did not.

Let's have a thought today for those who didn't get out of the last four years with what they began it with. And let's do our part to continue to try to make this country a better place. The work is so far from over.
