He entered office posing as an anti-establishment populist and he ends it handing get-out-of-jail cards to the most flagrantly corrupt members of the American political elite in both parties—people who lied and cheated and stole and got caught.
There’s something ultimately Trumpy in the way he and his campaign and allies invented reams of fiction about widespread Democratic voting fraud in places like Detroit and then pardoned an actual corrupt Democratic politician from Detroit.
