⚠️ Flooding update ⚠️

Parts of the city around the River Mersey - Didsbury Basin in particular - are at risk of flooding if water levels continue to rise. #StormChristoph

The safety of our residents is our #1 priority & we're working with GMP & the Environment Agency.

1/8
Our teams are in contact with residents in the affected areas.

Residents who may be affected in Didsbury should be prepared & follow advice, should they be asked to leave their home.

2/8
If it is necessary to evacuate homes, residents will be contacted & given instructions. A rest centre will be made available.

If you have been identified as self-isolating or clinically extremely vulnerable, we will contact you directly with next steps.

3/8
A flood warning means you need to ACT. Flooding is expected.

You should:
- Move vehicles to higher ground if it’s safe to do so
- Move family & pets to safety
- Move important items upstairs or to a safe place in your property, starting with cherished items & valuables

4/8
- Turn off gas, electricity & water supplies if it’s safe to do so; never touch an electrical switch if you’re standing in water
- If you have property protection products such as flood barriers, or air brick covers, use them now
- Keep track of the latest situation

5/8
Even though we are being asked to stay home due to Covid, we want to make it clear that if you are asked to evacuate due to flooding then that is the priority, & you should follow the advice.

6/8
There may be a need to close some roads that are at risk of flooding. Please move your car if it is safe to do so & follow any advice and signs that will be in place.

Up-to-date information will be on the council website http://www.manchester.gov.uk/stormchristoph
