Long shot, but here it goes.
@chenweihua I've seen your posts throughout Twitter, and I believe you have some influence in Chinese media. I am an American of (very proud!) Chinese heritage who has many happy memories from China. My hope is that bilateral relations get better.

It's a new political era. I have no right to ask you for anything, but I'm begging you to take a proactive step to make things better by providing fair, objective, and uplifting coverage of China AND other countries. I understand and often agree with the argument
that "Western" media provides unfair coverage of China, and that you feel the need to respond in kind. I'd argue that this is in no one's interests.

You've correctly argued that many politicians focused to much on bashing China to the
detriment of handling the pandemic. By dragging yourself into mudfights, you're doing the same thing. Let me be frank and say you'll never win in a tabloid media war - the established networks are too entrenched.

You need to offer an alternative, positive, and productive vision
just like China did in proactively handling the pandemic instead of demonizing others. If you believe "Western" media is sensationalist and misleading, why not offer accurate, balanced coverage with lots of expert input?

US media demonized the Sinovac vaccine using suggestive headlines in the guise of questions; I acknowledge this was sometimes true, as in the case of the trial death which turned out to be suicide. Instead of doing the same thing to other vaccines, why not write an article with
a calm headline, lots of data, and detailed explanation comparing different aspects of various vaccines without favoring any of them? That's something that's missing from current media that many people would find so useful.
Your paper has written so many interesting stories about everyday life in China - why not have more stories about how average Americans live? You've lived here and I'm sure know how beautiful the land and people can be.
I understand that it may feel good to strike back, and that taking the high road can feel daunting, but honestly as "state media" you'll need to be three times as good to earn a third of the credit.
I'm just a private citizen with no knowledge of journalism, but I write from a place of genuine good intention. If you see this Mr. Chen, please don't retweet since I don't want a mob. Anyone else, if you know other media workers who might be receptive, please let them know.
