thermofluid course flaws. a thread of me ranting
first , the lecturer only upload videos that he got from youtube for every topics that must be covered in the course. on the online class session, he only briefly explaining about outline of the topics. we are required to watched all the videos before the online session.
and the videos for one week lesson is shockingly a lot. usually it will take a whole weekend to settle watching all the videos. it's so time consuming for only one subject. taking our time to study other courses. to add, non any slides or notes are given we must do our own notes
secondly, the quiz, test and final format. the time provided is extremely short. It doesn't make sense at all. for section A is the multiple choice question. given only 20 minutes for 30 questions that includes simple calculation and cannot go back to the previous question
it's so annoying that we cannot correct the errors we made although when we knew that. plus the platform used is the itaaleem which are very inconvenient and inefficient. the system are lagging so much that it takes time to load from one question to another.
section B is the part so "called" short calculation. 4 questions for 40 minutes. the format is we only required to submit the final answer only which means 5 marks for each the question depends only on final answer. your correct calculation is wasted if the final answer is wrong.
and also we cannot manage our own time to decide which questions we want to solve first because we must solve the current question first in order to see the next questions. the questions are set to be staggered.
for the C section, there are 2 long calculation questions . 35 marks for each. Each question have sub questions that related to each other. we are provided 1 hour to answer, to scan, and to submit on the itaaleem that only can be access through laptop. which mean we must upload-
the file to the laptop first then we must download the file and then submit it.
average students carrymark for this course are only 15 to 30 over 50. the highest only 30/50 marks because the carrymark are from the test and quiz. I don't know whether the lecturer realized or not about this but yeah it's far from normal compared to other courses.
result from all of those, every semester only few of the students passed this course even worse there are some students that already repeat this course 3 times!. have been reported several times to the authorities but no action taken. sad truth but with the current situation-
i bet many students affected with this kind of system. not to mention about the students with internet connection problems. just think about how much time we as a student spend studying for only to pass a course
hence, i just hope lecturers be more empathetic towards students. that's all we need
and another crazy things uia did that i forgot to include is 12 weeks of lecture but covering for 14 weeks of syllabus.
