why I think Stockholm Syndrome is about S*mon/management in general

most of this is relating to Larry, but also can be taken into consideration for the closeting situation as a whole
the song is supposedly describing a relationship which is perceived to be primarily sexual, though as many of us know lyrics may have multiple meanings
The first verse is a reference to contracts, they’re being held hostage by the people they signed with (ex. Syco) and they can’t escape to freedom
In the chorus, it describes being “tied down,” something that can easily be done through contracts/closeting/basics in the music industry
this line is referencing how much Simon controlled Louis especially. He is afraid of the power Louis holds, and has tried to undermine him many times to keep his control (ex. bg).
here are a couple examples of Simon trying to show his control over Louis, displaying that he’s “in control” by placing a dominating hand on his shoulder, undermining him as his own person
These lines make me think about Midnight Memories, the first album the boys were allowed to actually write on, had a variety of songs that sounded as if they were wishing for freedom
All of these songs about freedom, wishing to be free, all came from midnight memories. They were given actual control over the music they wrote for the first time throughout all the albums.
+Stockholm Syndrome can be referencing that they backtracked on these certain liberties they wished for on midnight memories.
while yes, the song is a bop and it is completely valid just in that right for harry to add it, let’s look at what was happening around that time (2018)
Louis was a judge on the X factor the season following the end of the tour, working all the time with Simon, who time and time again mentioned being Louis’ “mentor” throughout times during 1D and after.
Even if Harry performing the song is a true coincidence (which are scarce in this fandom) the song itself is still most likely about the control the band was under during their time together.
