Let's start with stats. He's been an underrated performer since his freshman year, where he tallied over 1,500 scrimmage yards and 12 TDs. His sophomore year was cut short to injuries, and junior year to covid. This kid can play, though, and has good size.
Starting with his game against Cal, because I already know he killed my Oregon Ducks and I don't want to relive that quite yet.
Alrighty so the first clip goes a little something like this. And um, I'm trying to pace myself.
Oregon State has a really bad team, and a really bad line. After that one massive play, the next few were rough, with defenders frequently in the backfield. I do appreciate Jefferson taking what's available on this run. Turned it into a four yard gain.
This is a nice bounce to the outside then cut back on the seal. Jumbo package with two TEs stacking on the right side. As one blocks to the outside, he opens a cut-back for Jefferson, which he takes.
Jefferson is long and has good balance. I really enjoy his downhill running style - he sees the lane here and gets after it in a hurry, getting to the second level and breaking an arm tackle to break a long one. I wish he had the speed to house this, but meh.
That's about all that game had to offer. So, fine... we'll watch the Oregon game. If we have to. Grr.
Jermar tore up the Ducks in the rivalry game, to the tune of 226 yards and 2 TDs. In their six game season this year, Jermar only had less than 100 yards rushing once, when he posted 80 yards against Stanford.
Oregon's defense was strong against the run all year. Then Jermar does this with their first possession. Great vision and cuts in a small space, then speed to pull away. Also, this was apparently the neon bowl.
If you're thinking the film quality sucks, it's because the fog got bad in a hurry. I forgot how thicc it got. From their own two, Jermar gave the Beavers some solid breathing room on this.
He runs very physically. He's a bit of a strider and he eats up ground when he runs, but he shortens his steps at contact and plays with a good pad level.
Man it was foggy AF. But, this is some nice vision and cuts. The dude just runs downhill behind his 217 lbs frame. Please understand when I say ***I'm not comparing the two***, but his body movement REMINDS me of Adrian Peterson. He just kinda... gallops.
Um okay little side step and then a shoulder to end it. I see you.
That's all for Jermar tonight. Honestly, I like him. He's a physical galloper and I don't mind it at all. Still need to watch more.
