Now in @healthpsychrev: Enhancing the translation of health behaviour change research into practice: conceptual review of synergies between health psychology & implementation science (now open access!) https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/17437199.2020.1866638 1/7
So fortunate to have opportunity to collab w/ @MollyByrneIre and such amazing colleagues! @luciebd @DrSarahHotham @fabilorencatto @SDPotthoff @schwinnlou @bull_eleanor @a__dima @Anne_van_Dongen @davidfrenchx @NHankonen @jonijojo @dkwasnicka @San_van_ @EKOlander @ElaineToomey1 2/7
Starting point: so many advances in the science of health behaviour change produced in health psychology, behavioural medicine, applied social psych… but lack of clarity on if these advances are being implemented more widely; are we following-through on breakthroughs? 3/7
We begin by reviewing reviews of trials of health behaviour change interventions published in HealthPsychRev, asking: do the reviews discuss the implementation readiness of the interventions being reviewed? Answer: 4 of 34 reviews mention potential for implementation 4/7
We then take stock + give examples of range of ways that health psych has contributed to implsci. Health psych & related disciplines have contributed lots to implsci but perhaps not drawn from it as much (yet!); we provide some examples of how this could be done 5/7
Finally, we aim to foster greater synergy by providing detailed recommendations for how implsci can further inform health psych, and recommendations for how health psych can further inform implsci 6/7
Greater synergy between health psychology and implementation science may provide a rigorous way towards enhancing the impact of health behaviour change evidence 7/7
