The biggest mistake richos make is forgetting you can build something with no expectation of profit at all. You can build just because it's glorious to make something beautiful.
I think some kind of ROI-brain sets in for some people. Obviously not all, Carnegie and the Medicis had no trouble here.

I also think you don't have to be rich rich to want to create without the expectation of some commensurate gain.
Some people make it to 70 and are still loaded and the best they can come up with is investing in companies like Theranos instead of commissioning a single great work.
Is it a lack of imagination? A lack of drive? A feeling of disconnectedness from the world? These feel like almost callous explanations to suppose on someone, yet they are among the more charitable.
