A thread on why shigaraki is the best new gen shonen jump antagonist/villian
Shigaraki is a very interesting character. A child raised in an abusive household getting screwed over time and time again until the only one there to save him was not a hero, but a villain.
At the start of the series he starts off as a empty villain who doesn’t even believe what he’s even saying to the world but as the series progresses we see him grow more and more developing deeper motives and goals for the world.
In MVA we finally see his character come full circle and finally become a true leader. He is pretty much the polar opposite of the main protagonist, deku. Deku sees heroes as the greatest people to ever exist who keep peace in society.
On the contrary, Shiggy sees heroes as fakers and that their sense of justice is paper thin and they never rlly pay any mind to the broken ppl. Their parallels can be seen throughout the whole series from fighting villains with similar quirks to them (Redestro and Overhaul)
having the complete opposite setbacks for being a hero (Deku being held back because of his quirk and shiggy being held back by his family) and many more which is symbolized thru the hands he wears all over his body which he destroys in the my villain academia arc which-
symbolizes that he is now free to do whatever he pleases. Shigaraki destroys because he sees that this society he lives in should not deserve to stay if it created a monster such as him. The heroes pushed him aside and paid no attention to the problems of him and many other-
villains in the series. Shigaraki truly is the best villain to bring out the themes of mha (injustice, what makes a hero and villain) and enhances the story greater than any other villain in the series.
