Sacramento is taking public comment on our general plan amendment, which would eliminate single family zoning, and it's just person after person after person supporting the plan. We've only had one opponent. I am shocked. So much Sacramento pride rn
More members of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors should talk about how much more progressive Sacramento is than they are on land use
There's even a minor fight over who gets to move the change and who gets to second it. My jaw is on the floor. We are absolutely the best here in Sacramento.
By a vote of 8 to 0, the City of Sacramento tonight becomes the first in California to eliminate single family zoning, allowing fourplexes by right in all areas. In the same action, it eliminated most parking minimums and committed to explore parking maximums. UNANIMOUSLY!!!
A sturdy shoutout to my muse and the noble lord of House Sacramento @ansellundberg for putting together one of the best campaigns for getting people to give feedback to the City I have ever seen. Folks in Sacramento should get involved with @SacYIMBY!
And a BIG thank you to my council member @katie4council for moving this item! This is by no means the last step on housing, but it's a big one, and I really appreciate your support. It's only fitting that the Midtown renter was the one to fight to move it. Thank you so much.
For the more technically minded, check out House Sacramento's own @DovKadin for an excellent thread on what specifically Sacramento did tonight: https://twitter.com/DovKadin/status/1351731359719428097?s=20
