romanticizing recovery <3
waking up and making yourself your favourite breakfast. not measuring anything, not restricting. oatmeal with all the toppings, avocado toast with regular bread, cereal that hasn’t been weighed or measured.
waking up full of energy, full of life. waking up excited about what you’re about to do that day, not anxious about what you’re going to eat, or how much food you’ll be able to restrict.
going out for breakfast with someone you love. spending the time drinking hot chocolate and talking about life instead of thinking about how many calories you’re consuming or how many you need to restrict/burn off to compensate
going to the cinema and watching a movie. having a whole box of popcorn to yourself, drinking your favourite drink and eating your favourite movie snacks. actually watching and paying attention the movie instead of thinking about food.
sleepovers with friends. making brownies and cookies at 2 am. eating pizza all night long and spending time with your friends. living in the moment, enjoying yourself
spontaneous trips to mcdonalds. ordering a large fries and a mcflurry bc it’s okay, and it won’t hurt you. spontaneous pizza deliveries from your favourite pizza restaurant.
eating indian food, mexican food, asian food, middle eastern food, any new foods that you’ve never tried before or love more than anything.
having your absolute favourite meal that your mom makes especially for you. being able to enjoy it again without avoiding dinner, or avoiding eating it.
proper dates with your s/o. not having to go to a “healthier” place to eat or going on dates where you don’t eat anything. being able to eat something you truly want with someone you love.
cookies and hot chocolate on christmas. candy on halloween. chocolates on valentines. easter eggs on easter.
seeing the smile on your grandmas face after you finally have the slice of cake. the slice of cake shes been asking you about for months but you kept refusing.
ordering what you TRULY want on the restaurant menu. not what you think is the lowest calorie meal or the healthiest. what you truly truly want.
eating pasta with white sauce. eating non vegan pizza. eating a proper burger or a proper wrap, not a lettuce one. drinking real soda.
drinking non low calorie drinks. drinking milkshakes, boba, frappucinos, hot chocolates, regular sodas, smoothies.
going on vacation and trying new foods. eating whatever you want with no restrictions. letting go of all food rules and just enjoying yourself. pastries in paris, pizza in italy, sushi in japan.
being able to wear outfits without hiding your body in baggy clothes. being able to wear clothes and not look sickly. not having your skinny jeans hang off you.
pretty picnics at the park. eating pretty food and making memories with friends.
movement that isn’t forced. being able to go on runs to feel good and have energy to do them. trying out a pilates class, going on a walk. not feeling obligated to exercise to earn food.
not thinking abt what you’re eating. grabbing a snack from the kitchen without calculating the calories or going back on forth abt what to choose that’s the lowest in calories. just eating, enjoying, and moving on
feeling like you’re so in control that you’re not in control. food becoming intuitive. not the sole focus of your day, but a necessary part of it. something natural.
eating the whole pint of proper ice cream. eating the entire large chocolate bar. eating the whole bag of chips. and then eating normally the next day bc it’s okay, and food can’t hurt you
never having to feel cold when it’s extremely hot outside. brushing your hair and the brush coming out clean, no hair falling out. having clear skin and a real smile. looking alive and healthy not sick and miserable.
having energy to study. to do well in school. to actually focus in class. to be able to have energy whilst ur working at ur job.
making proper recipes. not low cal versions. make real brownies. real cookies. real ramen. real pasta. real everything.
being happy. bc your life became so different. you have mental space to think abt other things. food is something you look forward to, not something you dread or are afraid of. recovery is worth it, THIS is the life you should be living. this is the life you deserve <3
