Wanted to focus on reps by DeVonta Smith where he wasn't schemed open. Lot more of those than people realize.

Top of the screen. Excellent release getting the CBs weight on his outside foot to gain inside position. Stem vertically into the body, snap it off. Textbook. #Patriots
Top of screen again. Always moving forward in his release, quick/sudden feet. Gets up on the toes while threatening CBs leverage which opens up the sideline for him to work his route. Push vertically, throttle down, finish through contact. He dusts his man. LB just reads it well.
Smith doesn't get the ball here but I just love how uncomfortable CBs look against him in man (bottom of screen) Off-man by the CB. Smith threatens leverage in his stem to get the CB to turn his hips towards sideline then makes that sudden cut to curl back inside. Dusted.
Smith went off against Eric Stokes and Tyson Campbell in this game vs UGA, btw. Two top 100 prospects if they declare for the draft. These aren't future gym teachers he's playing against.
Right slot. Size isn't an issue b/c he knows how to play his angles and prevents guys from getting hands on him. Attacks outside shoulder in his release then accelerates through the CBs inside shoulder. Forces the CB to open and limits surface area. Can't square him up. Mossed.
Bottom of screen. I think Smith is pointing at the man lined up over him to signal to Mac that the CB is blitzing. Mac gets the RB's attention to pick it up, and Smith blows past the deep safety. Love how he paces the route. Sells an inside break before taking off.
Go ball vs Shaun Wade from the natty. Again uses those quick chop steps and a crossover while gaining ground to Wade to lean inside. No chance to flip and run for the CB once he loses at the line/doesn't get hands on Smith.
You just can't play him in off-man. He's too good at setting up his breaks in his stem and getting CBs leaning in the wrong direction. Once you are leaning one way, he's too quick to flip your hips and track him. Only hope is to smother him at the line, which is also tough.
Another contested catch win. Top of the screen vs. a bailing CB. Gets into the CBs blind spot has the corner biting on the out, then a smooth vertical transition and Mossed again at the catch point. 6-1, 175 with legit contested catch and play through contact skills.
Smith is the total package. PhD in route running with great explosiveness & quickness. Not just a schemed open weapon who makes MIKE LBs look slow from the #3 spot (inside slot). He can do it all. Outside, inside, vertical routes, horizontal stretch, underneath, schemed touches.
Lot of you will see this and say "no way he falls to 15." But last year the top WRs went 12 (Ruggs), 15 (Jeudy), and 17 (Lamb) in a great class. Certain teams in the top 14 will be targeting other positions & might not like Smith's athletic profile. It's not as crazy as it seems.
