Beginning August 2020, the Grain Farmers of Ontario Board has been involved in a Strategic Plan overhaul. One of the most important elements was the addition of inclusiveness to our values and commitments. 1/
We had planned to announce the new plan publicly later this month, but we are going to address Diversity and Inclusion now, given recent conversations. 2/
We commend @BeefFarmersON in their great work on inclusion, and the fight against discrimination in this industry. Some of us will never know what it feels like to be discriminated against.
We should work together to understand what others are going through and what they have been through. We want to actively work to ensure that our peers, coworkers, neighbours, partners and everyone in Ag knows they are equal, valued and respected. 4/
Diverse life experiences, backgrounds and ideas at the table, make organizations stronger and finding ways to make the inclusion of everyone systemic will benefit every organization regardless of industry. 5/
The entire industry needs to look at what they can do to be better and do better, and @BeefFarmersON has done that. Our own efforts over the last few months reviewing and refreshing our own Strategic Plan included discussing this with our Board. 6/
We all have a role to play when it comes to inclusion and working to end discrimination within in the industry. Great work @BeefFarmersON on opening the dialogue and discussing this important issue. 7/7
