THREAD: If you haven’t heard of Oak Flat, it is a sacred site for the Apache in Arizona that the fed govt is currently going to transfer to a mining company that will destroy the site to mine copper https://apple.news/ADOLVSgvcQhe2MfNg74EtUw
The mining of this land would destroy over 2,400 acres of land containing archeological sites, burial sites, etc. All sacred for many native tribes in the area. I can’t personally speak to the significance of the site for the Apache so for more on that: https://www.saveoakflatws.com
Please consider signing the petition (below) to save Oak Flat and sharing with people you know or call/email your representatives to urge them to support either bill currently in congress to save Oak Flat.

I cannot claim any personal connection to Oak Flat and can’t say I’ve been lucky enough to visit. So I have shared the information to the best of my ability but the best way to understand the entire situation for yourself is to read up from the people who are directly impacted
