My opinions which may not mean anything:

I am a Hindu. The first thing I do every morning is pray to lord Balaji. We celebrate every Hindu festival at home and absolutely love doing so.

Growing up, I’ve always loved being a Hindu. It was always such a sweet religion. (1/9)
No specific prayer days, no specific god to pray, no specific books to follow - it offered freedom, the freedom to choose what you like. In fact so many people I know have their own favourite Gods even.

Sure, there were issues like with everything else on this Earth (2/9)
But despite all that, it always felt like home. In my years of growing up, not once did my parents force us to do anything or behave a certain way on religious grounds

Sure, there are ppl who are very religious & those whose religious activity is limited to eating Prashad.(3/9)
But Hinduism embraces them all.

From jokes, movies to paintings & other art forms, ppl could express their views on our religion no matter how diverse because such was the culture. Nothing could shake our faith. In fact our scriptures have a lot of nuanced humour & art. (4/9)
It pains to see what some people are doing to this wonderful religion.

This “Dum hai toh uss religion pe karo” shouldn’t even be the question. We’re not that. None of us would be happy being in Saudi Arabia. We are Indians for a reason. We are better, we are progressive. (5/9)
Most of us know that the extremist views that are popping up is a result of people with political agendas. They don’t represent all of us.

But the people who feel otherwise don’t have the energy or time to fight these battles. (6/9)
Most of them, with a regular job and EMIs to pay, would find every possible way to stay away from trouble.

I know none of this might have an impact on the larger narrative that’s too powerful to be changed but this is just to remind everyone that you’re not alone (7/9)
Hinduism was, is and will always be a special religion. It is too beautiful to be maligned by a bunch of people with hate filled minds.

The unshakeable faith keeps those sages in Himalayas strong in freezing temperature. Let’s embrace that belief & outlook towards life (8/9)
And of course yes, a lot of things need to change, I even get the anger behind why some people feel strongly about various issues but this quote sort of summarises what a lot of us might feel (9/9)
