1/ Obvi. I am not a doctor.

But I am seeing a lot of people who are stressed from COVID and complaining about that "lump in your throat sensation"

If you go to the doctor, don't let them tell you it's just stress.

It could actually be:
2/

1 Acid reflux or ectopic gastric mucosa
2 A strain in your neck muscle or a slight tear in the "strap muscles"
3 Nodes/cyst on your thyroid pressing on the inside of your throat
4 You could be anemic causing lump in throat feeling
3/

5 You could have tonsil stones and one is lodged deep in the back of your throat. It could be something lodged like a piece of paper or foil from food that you inadvertently swallowed

6 Worse case: ALS, Cervical Herniated Disc ( you actually have a back problem)
4/

7 Eagle Syndrome

And finally

8 Cricopharyngeal Spasms - I think this can happen after violently throwing up and is also related to being stressed

BUT
5/

This diagnosis "Cricopharyngeal Spasms" is why I am writing this thread.

Many doctors will tell you this is in your head. And I am writing this to tell you that no, it might not be. You might actually have something physically wrong.
6/ And just because your doctor can't see anything wrong at first glimpse, DOES NOT MEAN this diagnosis is correct or that you are so stressed out you gave yourself a lump in your throat.

SO. What to do?
7/ Start with an ENT doctor who SPECIALIZES in swallowing disorders. He or she can check for most of these things and he or she will not blow you off with a "you're just stressed diagnosis"
8/ If your ENT says you have acid reflux or ectopic gastric mucosa make sure it is not the misdiagnosed as the former when it is really the latter.
