Let's talk about hashtags and how to properly plan for 'em!

I'm gonna write up a small thread on 3 of my personal rules for planning events/tags that I hope can be of some use to y'all!

This mostly applies to the creative community, but I hope it can assist others too!
1. Always plan ahead!!!

I see a lot of people planning tags on the whim. This is fine and generally there's nothing wrong with it. However this can lead to a lot of high expectations and upsetting results. Unless you get lucky. (I see u #/ImReallyBlack lol)
Planning ahead allows you to actually know what you're trying to bring awareness to! Is it just for fun? Is it for a cause? Is it to boost something? Is it simply for clout reasons (personally don't recommend this route)? Knowing fully what you're talking about is KEY!
Planning ahead also allows you to educate yourself on your pending tag idea. You can do some digging and see if there were previous tags like the one you're planning. If it was successful, then maybe try reaching out to the creator of that tag to bring it back!
If not, take notes on why it failed and how you can do better. It's always important to fill yourself with knowledge on your tag incase anyone approaches you with any questions. Be prepared!
Lastly for planning ahead is not clashing with other tags. People such as Abelle Hayford and a few others have actually made calendars for reoccurring events/tags!

I would highly suggest looking into those and planning around that!
2. Having a reason behind your tag.

As I said before, why are you making the tag? What's the significance? Recently I've seen people making tags because it seems to be the new trendy thing to do but then aren't happy with the low results they get. Let's talk on why this is
Tags are usually meant to bring awareness to something or are used for events. It's very small and rare that tags trend for personal reasons/growth. Those are very luck based and depends on your following.
Putting a reason behind your tag gives it importance and views.
Tags with causes for example:
#/drawingwhileblack (almost like portfolio day but for the black creative community)
#/drawingwithADHD (brings awareness to creatives in the ADHD community)
#/ArtistsofSEA (awareness for South East Asian artists)
Tags for events (usually lasts for more than a day/weekend):
#/blacktober
#/nativember
#/OC_tober
All of these tags have made it into Twitter's top trending tags for the creative community and have been widely talked about!

Each has their own purpose and have been used by over 500+ people at minimum!
3. Networking!!!

Everyone hates this part for some reason but having good connections with other people is //essential// for a nice working tag. It can be friends, mutuals, coworkers, etc.

You need to spread the word somewhere. Start with people you know!
Talking about the tag is important and also helps you make new buddies along the road. You'll never know who you'll meet from the tag you make!

Spreading the word with a positive vibe works! Asking for retweets ain't bad either! Be loud! Just stay cautious on being excessive.
Running a tag can be a lot and aren't always for the quieter peoples. This is a time for your inner extrovert to really GLOW!

Be bold and reach out to those mutuals you've been following for months but never talk to. Send that DM you've been hovering over for an hour. DO IT!!!!
It also requires a lot of online activity, especially if you're an account with less than 5k. Making sure you have an consistent active page (I recommend making an appearance 3-4 days a week) will let people know you're serious about the tag and also show you aren't a bot lmao.
That's all the tips I have for now!

If I have more tips I'll toss 'em out there but for now I hope this serves to be of some use for those planning any big future tags!

Good luck!!!!
