Hi guys I wanted to do a small thread on D’Angelo the Neo soul legend and his life. It would be mega if you could check it out and give it a quick read.Thank you and one love 
In 1995 a little known producer and song writer for other artists who was in a relationship with Angie Stone made is his debut album.
With his newly braided hair for his album cover. This artist was met with success eventually going platinum. His name was D’Angelo and his debut was Brown Sugar.
After the release of his album he was nominated by the Grammys for Best R&B album , Best R&B song and best R&B vocal performance and the album went on to sell 2 million records.
He proceeded to go on tour for two years and during this time he began to lose his ability to be inspired to write new material.
Suffering from writers block D’Angelo despite his explosive break through in the industry couldn’t write new material and as result his fans didn’t get a direct follow up for some time.
In 1998 D’Angelo and Angie stone had their first child child together named Michael Archer. This provided creative inspiration for D’Angelo and removed his writers block.
With these new experiences D’Angelo and his team crafted the masterpiece known as Voodoo with much of the material being inspired his first child , love and spirituality.
Voodoo went on to debut at number one selling 320,000 copies in its first week despite its lead singles not debuting very high. This album was crafted for true R&B and hip-hop fans not the mainstream but it didn’t stop its large commercial success.
D’Angelo became a symbol of sex with this release from his Six pack cover of his sophomore album and his music video of most successful song from the album called Untitled.
Voodoo went on to be nominated 3 times and D’Angelo won two of these nominations winning the Best R&B album and best make R&B mate performance in 2001.
The son of pastor struggled to adjust too his new found fame and his new status of a sex symbol in the music industry. This led him to increased isolation and played into his natural introverted self and he disappeared from the spotlight as an result.
During this time D’Angelo lost one of his best friends and stricken from this loss , D’Angelo fell into alcoholism and drug addiction to help deal with his grief from the loss of his friend.
Already isolated from society D’Angelo and his real life friends and industry friends slowly distanced themselves to avoid watching their friend destroy himself.
D’Angelo was jailed multiple times and even got caught paying for a prostitute. D’Angelo wasn’t himself and was taken to rehab three times with no success in getting him clean.
In 2006 a drastic change happened for D’Angelo he lost another friend and his name was J Dilla. With this loss and help from friends D’Angelo pulled himself from the darkness and became sober for his friends and family and himself.
With his new found sobriety , D’Angelo was fit and healthy to create and went onto make his comeback third album named Black Messiah and the world welcomed his return with joy in 2014.
Black Messiah won two Grammys. One for best R&B album and another Grammy for best R&B song called Really love.
3 classic albums and undisputed footprint on Neo soul D’Angelo is legendary and is his fans are excited for his next release despite his long waits between releases. Thanks for reading my quick thread on this music legend.
