I have today written to the sports minister to object in the strongest possible terms to the betrayal of brilliant community football clubs such as @ChesterFC. THREAD 1/5

Clubs started the season based on trust. Trust that the government and @TheVanaramaNL would support clubs to play behind closed doors without fans. That trust has now been betrayed by the suggestion of loans instead of support grants. 2/5

This is untenable for clubs, who are struggling financially as it is. Clubs like @ChesterFC have been doubly affected. First by the unfair allocation of the first round of funding, and now by this second blow. 3/5

I urge the sports minister to do what is right for the football clubs, lifelines for communities, and support them with grants as was initially promised. 4/5
