While I have very little time for Covid deniers, I think it’s very reductive to simply label them “cranks” etc. There’s a reason that these people are not responding to evidence based information. Simply put their distrust of experts has been carefully cultivated for a long time.

This is compounded by people in positions of power lying with impunity including the UK Prime Minister & this post truth reality is having a devastating impact on our society including the way citizens have responded to advice & information regarding the pandemic.

When they witness first hand those in power (who obviously do not have the UKs best interests at heart), lying & not being held to account the leap from listening & having faith in public health experts to having faith in Covid misinformation becomes a lot easier & a lot shorter.
