Made the mistake of googling my name again. Found a whole load of dodgy websites apparently offering pdfs of my books again. Most authors are not well off, and we deserve to be paid for what we produce. Piracy is a crime that robs us of the pay we deserve! 1/5
I received ÂŁ78 this year from the @PLR_UK scheme, which gives a small royalty for borrowed titles from UK and Irish libraries, and I'm ridiculously pleased with this, in the light of the corona crisis. Books, print, audio and e-book, can all be borrowed for free 2/5
from a library, even in lockdown. Being unable to afford to buy books isn't an excuse for illegal downloading, when the library service is available for nothing. 3/5
I spend at least 12 months, on the days when I'm not being a teacher, working on my novels, for which I'm contracted to a wonderful publisher. Why should piracy rob me of what I'm entitled to for that work? There is zero justification for pirating books. Zero. 4/5
You can even stream the wonderful audio versions of my last two books on @Spotify for free, even if you don't subscribe to the service. There really is no excuse for stealing someone's work. So please don't. Authors deserve to be paid! 5/5
