As the dust clears on what happened at the Capitol building we need to talk. Let’s talk about spirituality 
and spiritual formation.
Christianity was at work and it was alive and well. No...please be quiet I know you’re gonna say “not my Christianity”

We have to reckon with spiritual formation that forms young white boys and girls to grow up and terrorize others, dominate conversations, be abominable in the board room, make job situations hell, whitewash church structures, diminish minorities in seminaries...
Do less work but get more pay...and all in all couple that with a “gospel” of fear and dominance of which they play savior and center stage. The spiritual formation and underpinnings of it all... 
To all of this I want to say pointedly...stop saying “just preach the Gospel” literally stop. If the contents of the gospel message that was preached upon the shores of America from its inception until now could have been efficacious for unity and righteousness...it would’ve
We don’t see it. We’ve seen brutality and bloodshed and an overall lack of reverence for the imago dei...especially where the gospel is preached. That is an indictment. Furthermore this quandary has led to a doubling down of trying to figure out the right...
Specifics of the gospel message. If we can only get the right incantation Jesus will work for us and the message will be good

Listening. More learning from others. More giving. More living in harmony. More repentance. More coming to terms with the brutality of the Christian witness And from that place forging a better path. Looking back to move forward. Love to you all.
