LOL this is a nightmare 😅
I kid, I turned off the notifications when this had 2K likes, but I did skim the comments and QTs, and for everyone telling me I'm an idiot who doesn't understand inflation--as if we haven't had inflation before?--or telling me fast food jobs suck, AS IF I DIDN'T KNOW THAT, /1
there are probably a dozen more saying "I got my team a raise this way" or "I literally did quit a 'skilled' job to make better money at an 'unskilled' one."

The ones who are gonna stick with me are the teachers and EMTs saying they make $13/hour now. /2
And for the folks who are like, "Your boss will fire you if you do this," um, yes, that is how ultimatums work, but did you know it can cost more than $30K to onboard a new 'skilled' employee? Plus you now have no one in that slot while you recruit. /3
For the "you would hate a fast food job" crowd, yes, probably, but y'all clearly don't understand how bad a 'skilled' job can be for mental health. My abusive boss once drove someone to a breakdown and then fired them for having it so they wound up working at Michael's anyway! /4
And finally, speaking of that, thanks to the people who commented on the post about the abusive boss. It was a long time ago and I'm not excusing her behavior, but I did learn some important skills from it, such as "document every word that comes out of such a person's mouth." /5
In conclusion, inflation already happens, rising tides lift all boats, and WOW some people have really absorbed corporate propaganda and forgotten how to be decent humans in the process; nonetheless every human being deserves to be able to support themselves with dignity. /6
Oh! Two last things before I leave this topic: 1) "A higher minimum wage will make it impossible for new businesses to get started!" LOL. I've never known a startup that didn't pay more than min to get people to take the risk of coming to a startup, and:
2) "A higher minimum wage will drive companies out of business!" LOL, buddy, if you work for a company with more than 20 people, look up what the top-level boss got paid last year and ask yourself where your company could cut the most costs with the least staff reduction.
If a company claims it can't stay in business while paying workers a living wage, ask yourself if you should be mad at the people who want to earn enough money to stay off that public assistance you're always bashing, or if perhaps--perhaps!--the problem is what they pay the CEO.
One person tried to tell me that corporations have to keep wages low because they have "a legal responsibility to their shareholders to make the maximum amount of profit possible."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
