#Patriots Draft Target Thread: Jaylen Waddle (Alabama) 5’10” 185 lbs:

• Playmaker in the open field that’s a consistent threat to score
• Gamebreaking speed that is slippery with the ball in hands
• Chess piece on offense that can succeed at any spot
Waddle’s extremely controlled and polished as a route runner despite his elite play-speed. He knows how to attack DB’s to create separation naturally and can win from multiple spots.
An example here of Waddle’s ability to create. WR that can play at all spots but certainly most dangerous when the balls in hands quickly. Breakaway speed that’s tough to bring down in the open field.
Patriots lacked big play ability from their wideouts the last few years. The addition of Waddle instantly changes that. So crisp in and out of his breaks and immediately becomes a threat with the ball in his hands.
Does he contribute on special teams? You bet.

His ability as a PR/KR certainly helps him as a receiver with his vision and playmaking ability. Tough, extremely high motor that never takes a play off.
Question is where does he end up: No question Smith and Chase are off the board inside the Top 5-7 then it’s a matter of time before someone scoops him up. If he’s there at 15, I don’t know if there’s another player like him you’d rather take. Sign me up.
