Trying to be the best clip maker for MSNBC or regular on CNN changes how you spend your day as a legislator

When the NYT editorial board asked one lawmaker abt the criticism that his bill would cause poverty- he said legislation wasn’t the point

There are 535 members of Congress

Yes, that number. And you don’t get anything done there if you can’t get one half plus 1.

It’s not like you can win anything for the American people playing to your lunch table in the cafeteria

So if someone is complaining to their Twitter account that they have to follow rules- their audience isn’t their Congressional peers- and their purpose isn’t passing bills.

It is to be elevated on camera- and that isn’t the way to hit that “half plus 1”
