Just saw someone posting about how they had to go out with friends "for their mental health," but I distinctly remember them telling me years back it was "whiny" for me to want access to cafes, stores, etc., because I was isolated by illness + an inaccessible city.
They even said I was "not entitled to human contact."
Now they are on their socials going on about how "everyone is entitled to human contact."

When I talked about how the isolation was so bad l had forgotten how to use a debit card & couldn't write or think + how depressed I was, this person's instinct was to denigrate me & make it my fault somehow--totally ignoring structural stuff like lack of sidewalks.
Now they have a SMALL taste of what it's like when external forces beyond your control cause you to be isolated and ...
Oh wait. It's not beyond their control cause all they had to do was hop in the car and head out with friends. Something I still can't do--pandemic or not.

I guess "mental health" only counts for nondisabled people.
They never even think how some of us already have MH issues prior to the pandemic, too ... and how isolating MH issues can be (and disability/lack of access).
And how MH diagnoses can come with high risk for COVID for various reasons ...

I have compassion for it, though. I do. It’s just frustrating because I don’t think they will carry that lesson forward. I hope I am wrong.
