effects of adhd that arent romanticised because it isnt cute and quirky
-not thinking before you speak / act (impulse) and regretting it after
- not being able to sleep ( a lot of adhd people have an added disorder where we literally dont get tired until hours after the normal time and find it hard to wake up in the morning )no its not the same as a night owl
- rsd, also known as rejection sensitive disorder, it means we are so easily hurt even if the comment wasnt made about us, we can think that something is about us and it was tear us up inside
- taking comments literally / not understanding tone, its so stressful because most of the time we are too shy to ask for tome because then we look stupid
- extreme emotions, without meds theres no middle ground with emotions you are either on a high and extremely hyperactive or in an awful depressive state where you cant do anything, including eat and basic human care
- stims, like bouncing legs flapping your hand shaking your feet or writs, its really attention grabbing and its annoying when people tell us to sit still or say its cool or cute because its not and it hurts so bad but if we dont stim we start getting tics
- fidget toys, an easy way to stop stimming is by using fidget toys and mosh if the time they get taken away from us because of school rules, or people taking them because “they want a go” please just let us have it or ask if we have a spare if you really want one
- sensory overload, overstimulation, it hurts so bad, everything gets loud and bright and the smallest noises can trigger it and they can last literal hours, everything feels like hell, you can feel everything you wanna rip all your clothes and blankets off you and just fload
- the side effects, adhd usually comes with friends, and not the good ones, dyslexia, depression, anxiety are really common with adhd and i could go on a whole other rant about the actual version of those and why they arent cute
- losing focus, distraction, its annoying because we want to do our work and get good grades but its so hard because we cant grip our focus on it because something happens that distracts us and then we feel like a failure
- hyperfocus, this is where something can make you do something for hours or days and its like tunnel vision, nothing else (like eating, sleeping, basic human care ect) matter to you because you are dedicated on finishing this task that your brain is making you do
- hyperfixations, this is where your brain clings to something and it can absorb your life, its so difficult esp if you hyperfixate on a person, lot of people think we can chose out hyperfixations, we cant, and it sucks, and after its past you feel like you betrayed it
- meds, to even have a half normal life without adhd getting in the way we have to take meds every single day for our entire lives, and even more if you take sleep meds or meds for the other illnesses that can come with it, it sucks to think you have to rely on medication
self harm- obviously over illnesses come with self harm but it also comes with adhd often, and its not always the “typical” self harm, it can we punching yourself, or things, purposely holding in stims or sensory overloads, and then obviously the “typical” self harm
losing motivation, you can be doing something as small as a shower or you could be writing a 5 page paper and you just lose motivation to do it half way trough, and its not bordem its just sitting there staring at whatever youre supposed to be doing and just not having the energy
adhd isnt fun, it isnt cute or something you want because techno or dream has it, it isnt loads of energy that you wish you had because you are lazy or tired, adhd is tiring and it hurts so much id give the fucking world to get rid of it
