I work in mental health with other professionals that have been here for more years than me, and I still had to explain to my boss that self care isn't always a bubble bath and reading a book. 1/?
Sometimes the best things we do for ourselves is the mundane. And also the things that seem most difficult. Folding the mountain of laundry for instance. Vacuuming because its been two weeks. Setting up a dinner schedule. All of that is self care too. 2/?
We all need those mundane things to help our mental health. Often the things that we put off and find hard to do in times of mental struggle are the things we need the most. 3/?
I'm not saying that the more luxurious forms of self care are unimportant or less helpful. They do help, but to some they are unattainable for a variety of reasons. They should feel able to complete self care too. 4/?
My hope with this thread is that people remember to take care of themselves mentally right now. Now excuse me while I go fold some laundry. 5/5
