To all the people claiming that developers can't test their own code, when I become a developer after 10 years in testing, do you really think I forget how to test well? This ridiculous idea has to stop.
Reason 1 cited often: people don't want to find faults in their own work. Let me tell you: I LOVE finding faults in my own work, it's an opportunity to learn something.
Reason 2: You NEED testers, period. Really? I've worked with developers who were amazing testers. I don't feel threatened by that, I just shifted my focus on complementary testing on top of what they already did.
On top of that: I've worked with some testers that were absolute garbage at their job. Didn't use test design whatsoever, GUI-obsessed morons. Having testers on your team is not even a guarantee.
