The Talking Politics podcast is brilliant - but on the recent climate change episode, David Runciman made an important, and common, mistake. Here's what he said:
I often hear people say the young are most worried about climate change. We just need the olds to not screw it up until the next generation comes to fix it.
But the evidence doesn't really back up that generation divide. Eg this is from Ipsos Mori: small age differences but not much
And this is a YouGov poll this week. Again, the youngest slightly more worried but not much in it, especially among the over-25s
The idea young people are most worried about climate change *feels* true. Greta, Fridays for Future etc. But the evidence isn't really there for it.
This is good! Worries about climate change are evenly spread in the UK. We don't need to wait for the young, liberals, urbanites, remainers etc to take power and fix it. This study is excellent on that  https://climateoutreach.org/britain-talks-climate/#
Hopefully the myth that climate change is a young person's game will fizzle out soon. In the meantime, listen to the excellent  @TPpodcast_ if you don't already.
