Behind every single death statistic is a very real and very human tragedy. Real people, with real lives and real families. Nobody should ever forget this. https://twitter.com/itvwales/status/1351452613510909952
And (recognising that this article doesn’t do it), the throwaway phrase of “they had underlying health conditions” is just misleading.

Many of the “underlying health conditions” that may or may not be contributory are mild, controlled and do not affect day to day living.
A touch of asthma, a bit of blood pressure, a heart attack 10 years ago and after a stent they were back playing golf, well controlled diabetes - in fact, there’s not many over 50s these days who don’t have an “underlying health condition”. The statistics often miss this reality.
And conversely, one can have all of the “underlying medical conditions” without knowing because you’ve never seen a GP. Just because there’s nothing documented, it doesn’t mean there’s nothing there.

It’s like thinking your car is perfect because you’ve never had it serviced.
