Serious time re: Gearslutz.
This is a pro-audio site with nearly half a million members that claim themselves to be the #1 website for pro-audio. It's not a tight knit forum that it once was. It's arguably a required resource for someone learning about pro-audio...1/5
2/5 I'm in no position to demand or try to cancel anything. These site admins are free to do what they want. I've always considered the site name cringey, but it wasn't until Alphabasic Music Center and 32 Forty in Chicago that I had a problem with it...
3/5 - It's REALLY INAPPROPRIATE to direct an 11 year old girl who is interested in synths to Gearslutz or Muff Wiggler (which btw is the official support forum for 30+ companies). And when this name-change is suggested, the REAL community problems come out of the woodwork...
4/5 - It's not like the name change is "giving in to pc culture" or whatever. Gearslutz is a profitable endeavor. Making it more inclusive will make the community stronger as well as make the site more money.

The name is stupid IMO, but nearly as stupid as this precedent.
5/5 - So, like I have been for nearly a decade, I'm simply asking: Can Gearslutz and Muff Wiggler consider changing their name to something that is less intimidating for women, and to something that reflects unpredictable size and importance that they've become? Please???
