Guess this'll be a thread on Return to Shiganshina.

Just gonna be blatant here, if you haven't watched or read Attack on Titan, don't read this thread.

The last thing I'd want to do is spoil someone on AOT, considering I've been too.

So let's start. Final warning.
Uh...where do I begin?

I think this arc was wonderful in terms of tension and drama, which it was one of the few times where I felt there were stakes for the characters.

My problems with the arcs beforehand involved the characters I liked getting pushed to the sidelines.
This arc didn't have that problem, and that's something I gotta thank it for.

Even the characters I previously disliked were made likeable(yes I'll get to Eren). But the highlight of this arc to me was Erwin.

What an incredible character. Easily an SS tier character.
But I bet you're wondering about my thoughts on the basement.

I thought it was a great reveal, and Grisha is wonderful(I can see the comparisons between him and Kiritsugu).

The backstory was very well done and I have no problems with how it was executed.

ALTHOUGH
I gotta say, while I loved the backstory...

I don't like the setting of Marley. To me the magic of AOT was the setting, and while I knew this was coming...

I gotta admit that I'm annoyed that Paradis won't get as much of a focus for Marley's setting.
The setting isn't necessarily BAD, but I just got so used to the original setting that I was a little dissapointed.

I hope the setting of Marley is good later on, but this is honestly my only issue.

So let's talk about Eren.
Yeah, I like Eren now.

I don't put him on a pedestal like most people, but I thought Grisha's backstory explained a lot of Eren's character very well.

He was still an annoying prick at the beginning and I still stand by that, but he's evolved in a good way.
Also, I can't wait to see more of Zeke. Probably one of the more interesting aspects of this arc involving the backstory.

That's all I really gotta say about this arc.

9.5/10 arc
Yes I still hate the fanbase.
