This might be a hot take, but if you're a leftist in a colonial country and have the access, I think you should be learning another language. I think we should actually do our best to learn as many languages as we reasonably can.
There's no reason to limit yourself to the english speaking world if you don't have to. I don't even care if it's French (I'm learning french haha). Even that'll allow you to read more news in northern Africa, France, Canada, etc. Just learn something.
Try a little to be international.
There's even leftist channels where you can learn Spanish (shout out to @javitrino). Learn some Vietnamese and check out @LunaOi_VN. Learn some mandarin if you're so worried about the ongoings in China lol.

Just try to be a international. And I know we're all busy, stressed with the pandemic and many of us are disabled, so I'm not even asking for language mastery or anything. Lord knows that would make me the biggest hypocrite.
I'm just saying, try as much as you can cause English really isn't enough. Most of our education systems failed us, but that doesn't mean we have to revel in our ignorance. Esp when our states are feeding us propaganda & trying to keep us isolated from the rest of the world.
