A new year signifies new beginnings, new resolutions, and new learnings.
That brings me to think about the act of learning itself.

When do we learn?
While we all know that learning happens only when it is sought by the learner, as #Teachers, and as #facilitators, a large part of our work is involved in the art of inspiring and motivating #learners to embark on exciting learning journeys.
In a #heutagogy based learning ecosystem, facilitators will see that learners choose to sit on the learning edge and step out of their comfort zone to make learning happen. Learners have the intrinsic motivation to do so since they are the ones who are determining their learning.
However, in a purely pedagogical learning system that is driven by curriculum and focused on examinations, facilitators will see children trying to stay within their comfort zone.
Learners will be confident only when they are competent at performing the given task and will face fear and anxiety when pushed to lean over the learning edge.
In such cases, an approach that instills a pedagogy of confidence is necessary to help children experience small wins and nudge them to travel along the learning edge fearlessly to make discoveries and to build new learning paths.
