In honor of #YAMSDAY here’s 10 New York rappers who will keep NY rap alive throughout the next decade: A THREAD
First of all, I’d like to start this thread off by saying RIP A$AP Yams. A$AP Yams was a marketing and musical genius, who was not only responsible for the rise of the A$AP crew, but showed incredible insight towards the future of the music industry and the rap game as a whole 🙏
1. Joey Bada$$ ( @joeyBADASS)

Hometown: Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY

It’s crazy that Joey is just 25 years old considering he’s been releasing quality music for nearly a decade. I expect Joey to do great things, not only for NY rap, but for NY as a whole throughout the next decade.
2. Griselda ( @WHOISCONWAY @BennyBsf @WESTSIDEGUNN @ArmaniCaesar)

Hometown: Buffalo, NY

What Griselda has done in the last few years is impressive. Griselda seem to be unstoppable and show no signs of slowing down. I expect them to continue to dominate NY rap in the coming years
3. Flatbush Zombies ( @FlatbushZombies)

Hometown: Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY

The Flatbush Zombies have been one of the best rap groups in hip hop for nearly a decade, having one of the most consistent and impressive discographies in rap. I expect them to do great things this decade.
4. Lou From Paradise ( @paradisemadman)

Hometown: Staten Island, NY

Lou’s style of sharp, passionate lyricism and flows make him one of my favorite rappers out. After recently going independent, I expect Lou to grow both artistically and commercially throughout the next decade.
5. Princess Nokia

Hometown: Harlem, NY

Princess Nokia dropped 2 great albums in 2020, and throughout the last few years of the 2010’s, she continued to deliver time and time again with every album. I expect her to do great in the next decade, and think she has immense potential
6. Nyck Caution ( @NyckCaution)

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

Nyck Caution has been a prominent name in the underground New York rap scene for awhile now. Coming off a great EP in 2020, Nyck Caution has already started 2021 off on a high note with his new album, “Anywhere But Here.”
7. Che Noir ( @che_noir)

Hometown: Buffalo, NY

Che Noir is a very strong lyricist who typically delivers her sharp lyricism over classic NY style production. With her career just getting started, I’m excited to see how far Che Noir will go throughout the next decade.
8. CJ Fly ( @CJFLY_)

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

CJ Fly has one of the most underrated mixtape catalogues of the 2010’s, and is coming off a great album in 2020, “Rudebwoy.” I hope to see CJ Fly gain the attention he deserves in the next decade, and continue to deliver great music.
9. Fivio Foreign ( @FivioForeign)

Hometown: Brooklyn, NY

Fivio Foreign is a leader for New York’s growing drill rap scene. After Pop Smoke was tragically taken away too soon (RIP), it will be up to artists like Fivio to continue to grow NY drill throughout the next decade.
10. Melvoni ( @BabyFaceApm)

Hometown: Flatbush, Brooklyn, NY

At just 17 years old, Melvoni is 1 of the most promising artists currently coming up in New York. After dropping a quality EP in 2020, I’m looking forward to what this year, and the next decade has in store for Melvoni
Being from New York, I can confidently say that the next decade will be great for the NY rap scene. I can’t wait to see what new artists surprise, and rise to prominence in New York in the coming years. RIP A$AP YAMS #YAMSDAY
