Trey Lance lacks consistency, at times.
That said, he throw a lovely vertical ball. Boundary 9’s, corners, seams.
Effortless on the 45y seam. Nice athleticism on the PA. Look at the feet. Great passers throw with their feet. Tidy work here.

Again, the footwork by Lance is ideal. Plays from the pocket w/ controlled urgency. Assertive and measured. Take note of the placement on this slot fade
Selling play action in the red zone effectively. Again, controlled urgency here. Just keep watching the footwork.

Great misdirection scheme from 12 personnel.
Makes 3 open field defenders miss w/remarkable footwork. Carries the DE an extra 5 yards before he gets him to the turf.
This translates, situationally. Feels like old times. (Cam v Min, 2017)

More misdirection scheme. Lance has a nice balance—doesn’t lose momentum upon first contact. So graceful after fighting through the trash.
Have heard him compared to Steve McNair as a passer (accurate comp). This looks like Steve as a runner here. Power/balance/2nd gear.

We will continue to add to this thread throughout the week. Again, there will be some plays we highlight that aren’t great. That’s fair. Part of the process. I’ll be constructive on those, as always. Honestly, he’s very impressive. One of the best athletes I’ve seen.
Again, the level of competition will improve next year. With that said, he’s looking like he should look like against his opponents: a man amongst kids.
It’s rare athleticism at the position. As you have seen already, throwing the ball is not an issue.

3rd down, backed up against his own goalline. 6 man pressure flushes Lance.
Which, in a lot of ways, it’s just fine with him. Again, great job escaping the initial trash, and now, he’s in the open field 1v1.
Guess who wins?

Here’s the only INT of Lance’s college career.
Nice PA rhythm. Footwork is good. Throw was just early and flat. Lance has a pocket, and just runs into a brain cramp here. He will miss a read from time to time (rpo slant windows), but usually never turns it over.
Correctable.

2019 FCS Championship Game.
Lance flushed, eludes, and casually tosses aside a DT and LB before fearlessly entering the chaos, finishing the play. He has friends, too.
