OKAY so i had no idea these guys were real but this is actually a super interesting question so allow me to rant about it. https://twitter.com/oh_look_YAOI/status/1351352445591457792
You can very easily make the argument that this isn't considered rpf because these are simply characters inspired by real humans. A character inspired by someone =/= the actual person it's based on.
However, THAT'S WHAT RPF IS!! RPF is about making characters that share a person's name, image and in many cases even try to capture some of that person's personality but it is still not them. if you make fanfic about a celebrity then there is a+
very clear difference between the actual human and the imaginary version you have created of them. So if you think about it, this is actually not that different from average RPF content. Despite all of this though, I wouldn't consider it RPF.
The reason why I think this is different it's because RPF content CANNOT exist without it revolving around the actual person. What I mean by this is that if you want to make some fanfic about a celebrity you like or whoever that fanfic would need to be directly inspired+
by that person's image in one way or the other, but that isn't really the case here! So you could say that this cartoon IS a form of RPF but weirdly the content around it doesn't have to be because you can be into those fictionalized versions without actually+
caring about the real humans. RPF content is directly inspired by the person in question but that's not the case here, the content in this case is inspired by characters. So while you can make the argument that the show is a form of RPF (as funny as that idea sounds)+
the content around it isn't inspired by the actual humans I wouldn't consider that a form of RPF. So yeah, much to think about.
