Black people are in a unique, yet not unique, position of watching a nation prepare to celebrate. The same nation that has continued to trample over human rights of African people across the globe.
They're feeling a sense of accomplishment for ushering in what is guaranteed to be an age of repression for poor and working class Black people, as is typical in this country, and around the world.
The danger of this time is being undersold, due to the level of comfort and admiration people feel with the future oppressor in chief. That is frightening.
Frightening circumstances should not produce frightened people. It should cement the reality of the conditions we are up against.
See that empty hand, not as harmless, but as what they expect you to watch as that boot attempts to stomp out movements to build consciousness among the collective.
Some of y'all are cheering on the same fucking federal government that classified my people as Black identity extremists. And y'all are fucking dead ass. Doing that clown shit and paying tribute to Dr. King today. Goofy.
You're helping the same FBI that kept files on all of our political minds. You're worshiping an example of "Black girl magic" that has already said, not in these precise terms, "Black plight is not going to be her pet project" in office.
If you're gearing up for a celebration, I ask you what the fuck are you celebrating? You're celebrating the same people who have continued to say "we will reach across the aisle, but not out to your Black asses."
I'm never going to blame oppressed people for the oppression we all face. But any motherfucker cheerleading for the empire is making a choice. They're trying to hedge their bet and they aren't getting paid out anything else except subjugation.
Payoff for traitors is not calling them names on Twitter, as you commit to the same dishonorable shit in your political life. You can't be that obtuse.
It's still stepping and fetching even when you say it isn't. You're a flunky for fascists, but you refuse to assess it that way, because you lied yourself into that position.
You don't have to continue to lie. You can do better than punching a ticket that is going to punch you down.
