What should you do when you start to doubt yourself?

When you start to think about giving up on whatever thing it is you're pursuing?

When you think you're not good enough.
...

Well, what would you do if you stopped? 🧵🧵🧵
This conflict approaches everybody.

It approaches artists and creatives, but It also approaches your neighborhood mailman.

It approaches the professional basketball player you watched on TV last night, and it also approaches the barista who made you your coffee this morning.
This doubt can take on all shapes and sizes.

It can be imposter syndrome, belief that you're not staying in your lane, belief that you're not facing reality and only chasing a dream, or it can just be a simple lack of confidence.
I face these thoughts everyday

I think about the way in which I spend my time and cower at the thought of how all of my energy and pursuits could so easily result in nothing down the road.

This thought cripples me and often shelves many of my creative pursuits with ease.
But what's my alternative?

How would I fill my time if I were to suddenly give up on the things that I'm passionate about?

Would I plant myself in front of the TV, drinking beer and watching hockey? (A wonderful way to spend an evening on occasion. Not a healthy practice)
This question often convinces me of a key realization.

Everytime I spend the precious currency that is time on something like a creative pursuit, I feel like I'm taking a risk.

But in reality, it's not a risk at all.

I'm spending my time in a. way that makes me...ME
I've put in the reps in life.

I've pursued things that don't meet my fancy.

I've tried to care about things that don't lead to my fulfillment.

Sometimes the things that do provide me fulfillment don't match up with the worlds expectations and that's okay.
What's important is that I don't let these expectations drive me. Instead seek an understanding of my own expectations.

Sometimes this will be through trial and error, but it will never be a waste of time.

Feeling doubt doesn't mean we're making the wrong decision.
