1. it’s so interesting how GC “leaders” launch programs to help equity seeking groups and right away applaud themselves as if the work is done. phrases like “this illustrates our commitment to developing an inclusive leadership, as well as fostering an environment of EDI...”
2. How about we see some actual results before you clap like you did something worthy of praise? How about you admit all the times qualified and capable racialized folks were denied career advancement not because they weren’t ready but because of biases in the org.
3. How about reflecting & designing better systems rather than thinking all that needs to be done is recruit more from different demographic groups? Does it ever occur that things don’t just become inclusive or equitable with the wave of a magical wand and an initiative launch.
4. Also, why has it taken so long for these initiatives to occur? Were the leaders never bothered by the fact that their leadership table looked nothing like how Canada really looks? Guess it didn’t bother them cause they were okay with & benefiting from the status quo.
5. Well maybe in 2021 they will get it. Launching a program is a good start but it isn’t worthy of celebrating until the results show real change is happening. I want to see accountability and changed behaviour. Then I will clap. Until then you got way more work to do. 👇🏾
