Well. Okay this is actually one occasion on which I should have read the article before speaking. Bc the tied committees are a meaningless gesture at bipartisanship in a world where Dems hold chairmanships (so set the agenda) and a tied committee advances legislation.
All Schumer did was give Republicans the power to advance legislation out of committee, which is meaningless with Schumer is still the floor leader. I might regret this but on a cursory read... good work, Chuck. This performs bipartisanship while conceding little of value. :)
I mean it may also affect things like funding and it makes Republicans feel more useful and will probably give them a few more chances to grandstand at committee hearings or whatever. But AFAIK the trade on substance for bipartisan cover is worth it, esp given Biden being Biden.
