One thought I keep coming back to in all this is that a big reason for UT's struggles through the years has been the fact that so many critical hires were rushed through without enough forethought...
Lane Kiffin leaves abruptly in early 2010...rather than let Kippy Brown steer the ship for a while, Mike Hamilton rushes out and hires...Derek Dooley? A panicked, rushed hire.
Dooley is fired in 2012 and Dave Hart with his "level of information and level of expertise that nobody else has" gets played by Charlie Strong and Mike Gundy then proceeds to give the job to Butch Jones after a midnight interview in a hotel room. Another panicked, rushed hire...
Botch is fired in 2017 and John Currie did all those things and got himself fired. Fulmer gets the job and hires Jeremy Pruitt in less than a week. Another panicked, rushed hire...
So here we are again. Biggest debacle yet and everyone wants the new AD and new coach hired yesterday. My only advice would be to take it slow. Don't panic. Don't rush. When you think you've got your guy. Take a step back and sleep on it a while. At this point...what's the hurry?
